As a rule of thumb, bag and pad work suits 12-14oz boxing gloves; sparring partners over 70kg should go 16oz minimum to protect each other's heads. Competition boxing gloves are typically 8-10oz and built lighter and slimmer for speed and accuracy. If in doubt, size up, heavier boxing gloves protect your hands and your sparring partner.
